Är du Redo? (Board Game Design)

Group project - User Centered Design

Är du Redo? (Are you Ready?), is a board game we designed as a part of a course in user-centered design. The project is focused on how to engage young adults in crises preparedness and management through a playful, more interactive way of learning. Our design brief is based on a fictional power outage in the city of Malmö.

The game board was designed with a playful and relatable approach. We included well known Malmö landmarks and popular neighbourhoods with a comedic twist to make the game more approachable and easy going. The goal was to inspire young people to think critically about crises management while learning in a more entertaining way.

In the development of this game we used laser cutters, 3D-printers for the game pieces and tokens, Photoshop as well as Illustrator to design the map and the game cards. In the making of the box interior we explored the usage of vacuum molding.

The development process combined both digital and physical prototyping. We used laser cutters and 3D-printers to produce the game pieces and tokens, while Photoshop and Illustrator were used to design the map and game cards. For the box interior, we experimented with plastic vacuum molding, which resulted in a more functional finish.
