Laptop case made from recycled rice bags.

This project grew out of a curiosity about sustainability and an appreciation for the multi-cultural food culture in Malmö. In Malmö there are many Asian restaurants that go through large quantities of rice bags every week. Instead of letting them go to waste, I started thinking about how rice bags, with its durable and moisture-resistant material, could be re-used and up-cycled.

The ambition with this project is to further develop, as well as explore additional design solutions. Establishing collaborations with more local restaurants in order to encourage up-cycling and embrace the diversity of Malmö city.

Sanlo on Bergsgatan kindly donated these to me, so I could continue to work on The Grain Gear project.
